sunkissed BEAUTY & 'hippy hair'

for the second time on pd - i am wordless.
number one, it's anja rubik up close and personal.
number two, it's her in make-up of the utmost perfection.
and number three, the theme is beach-worn and summer sun.

WORDLESSNESS

you get what i mean, right?

those metallic eyes
that soft yet harsh purply contrast
it's made my fashion friday!

---

and there's more!

patrick demarchilier made my beauty dreams (and caroline's!) come alive with this bohemian inspired editorial on hippy hair and how to work it.

foreign vogues, this time germany's, prevail once again.
c'mon britain - step up!

center-parted beach waves

crimped max-volume

wild wild waves

oversized quiffs & giant side-plaits
what do you think of these hairstyles
will you be wearing the scruffy beach locks this summer?

suzalicious

i have this friend called suzie.

she's a true free-spirit.
she listens to class music from the likes of dylan, supertramp, the beatles.
she's always in trouble (her nickname is 'miss terarmitage'soffice')
you'll most likely see her on london's old street, partying hard with the rich.
but likewise in camden town, rolling cigarettes and talking to hippies.

most of all, we love her.
and she has very. cool. clothes.

cardigan - urban outfitters; scarf - camden market; vest - h&m; belt - vintage;
skirt - topshop; boots - camden market

her clothes never match and she goes where the wind blows!
that's why i love her style.

daria & anja

vogue paris, february 2010

vogue espana, march 2010

if cover perfection exists,
for me - this is it.

daria werbowy, my ultimate favourite supermodel of all time,
sporting beach hair & dripping in jewels on a sandy beach at twilight.

anja rubik, another beauty and somehow regular on pd,
looking cute and freespirited in everything i love - feathers, fringing, embellishment,
and sexy shoe-boots.

foreign vogues often acheive this sort of perfection,
where as i'm never stunned by british vogue.
maybe we should take some tips from vogue paris & vogue espana.

anyway, i'm completely in love.
these are pure pd gold!

what do you think of these?

"100 places to remember before they disappear"

maldives, indian ocean

i could have cried when i found this article this morning on newsweek.com

it basically lists one hundred locations across all continents that, as a result of climate change (argh!), will become irrepairable for human use or completely disappear all together.
and it'll all be happening very soon.

the author, fareed zakaria, commented:
"it is also some of the most beautiful places on earth and a reminder that they are magical, fragile, and, ultimately, transient."

here are some examples of the locations that will be tragically effected:

the battery, nyc, usa
that famous southern shoreline of manhattan will face more frequent flooding where water could rise up to 10 feet. this usually only happened once in a century.

the alps, austria
the extremely popular ski slope destination for tourists is rapidly decreasing in size as the snow continues to melt.

paris, france
summer 2003 was one of the hottest summers on record in france with 14,800 heat-related deaths. these heat waves are likely to become increasingly worse and frequent in years to come.

venice, italy
the "floating city" has sunk by 9 inches over the past century alone and could soon face 10 feet of floods.

london, uk
the giant river thames runs all the way through the heart of the city. and is it's biggest threat. rising sea levels means the thames is likely to cause huge flooding for the uk's capital.

you can actually buy 100 places to remember before they disappear as a book by following the links on newsweek.com
the book is a reminder of what is at stake if we continue this arrogant complacency in the face of a rapidly changing climate.

---

besides this doom & gloom, i'll leave you with a little optimism!

want to do your bit to save the planet?
recycle clothes a'la vivienne westwood :)

vivienne's top tips for being green & creative:

1. wear your clothes upside down/ back to front
2. wear your boyfriend's clothes
3. buy clothes made of organic fabric
4. turn trash into fashion (trashion - ha!)
5. don't buy any clothes for atleast 6 months, get creative, and then if you want to buy one thing make sure it's vivienne westwood, of course!

what's your personal reaction to the article above on climate change?
are you liking dame viv's tips on recycling clothes?

betsey vs. kelly-o

WATCH THIS!

i friggin' love betsey johnson
i visited her covent garden store with friends the other day and fell head over cinderella heels for her signature explosion of colour, print and fantasy-overload styling.

she's like an even crazier vivienne westwood
and the catwalk footage in this video proves it!

every fashion show should be this fun.

and i loved this:
kelly: (looking at the collection) "i love it"
betsey: "oh, i hope the critics do too"
kelly: "fuck 'em!"

too right,

becoming boho, step 1 - find the footwear

this summer, you know you'd love to look like this.
like you've just stumbled off a raft and onto a sandy beach,
but in the most chic way imaginable.
(is it even possible?)

well, the first wardrobe treasure that would atleast put you on the right track is a pair of glamorous glad sandals with an edge.

to begin your hunt, here's some of my favourites out there:

antik batik, £140 via net-a-porter.com

i'm back!

phew.. finally!

it has been way. too. long.
thought i'd make an entrance with an image from one of my favourite editorials out there at the moment:
'dream girl' by patrick demarchelier in vogue china's may issue.
it has to be natalia vodianova at her best.
light, airy garments included the roberto cavalli floral jumpsuit which i am endlessly in love with.

i've atleast been busy whilst away and i was lucky to be able to write for amelia's magazine again,
you can see my article on the mcqueen legacy and carly moroney's work here:

carly moroney creates many stunning prints and fashion designs and you can check out her blog here:
