the shoes were most definitely the highpoint of the day! ^

a highly talented, forward-thinking designer that is one-to-watch.
liberty of london were previewing the collection & asos are also showing interest in selling her work.

round my hometown

i love cambridge,
for it's beauty,
for it's streets,
for it's hideaways,
for the people i've met,
and for all my memories.
i'll truly miss it when i move to london.

lako bukia's 'c u b a r t'

this coming tuesday, 29th June, i'll be lucky enough to represent amelia's magazine in taking a peek at the latest collection of the fresh new georgian talent that is lako bukia.

this exclusive event for press and buyers will be held at felicities designer showroom in shoreditch london and will present the 'c u b a r t' collection, inspired by the cubist movement - pablo picasso and russian theatrical costumiers in particular.

after seeing the lookbook on http://www.lakobukia.com/, the collection really seems to achieve what it says on the tin - depict cubism art through fashion.
shaping something famously 2D into 3D form, although taking note from russian costume designers of the cubist movement, would have been quite a challenge.

however, the perpendicular lines that are so striking throughout, the sharp contrast from black velvet to white wool, those big chunky cubic heels and even right down to those square black lips seems to pull the concept together seamlessly and with ease.

love these heels!

i am SO looking forward to seeing this intriguing collection up close, and maybe even seeing the talented lako bukia herself! :)

i'll report on my thoughts of the event, complete with tons of snaps, right here on PD.
happy saturday!

wait 'til you see my smile..

... on 22nd june when my exams finish and i am as free as a bird.
everything is so beautiful right now.
everything but those pesky revision files, staring at me twentyfour-seven.

once i can burn them (no, seriously) i can proceed in having a blissful summer.

selling jewellery, hunting down lammies cowboy boots in canada, eating mountains of chinese with my pa in vancouver, chilling with friends, spending heavenly days with my love, reading in the menorca sun.

my current image obsessions, courtesy of rumi neely and her bohoness.

these have been inspiring my latest project -
i'm thinking of a starting a small hand-made jewellery business, inspired by the beautiful islands of polynesia in the pacific.

think bone, leather, coral, wood, shells, feathers, wood, teeth & coconut.
the ball's already rolling, so watch this space :)

is it obvious i don't like twilight?

july 2010 elle, subscribers cover

july 2010 elle, newstand cover

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND
i have an undying love for elle magazine.
i've always bought it every month without fail and it has my full respect.
but this month that respect has somehow doubled after making kristen stewart look on some level glamorous! (extra kudos to anne-marie curtis - love her.)

how?
just... how?!

it's not that she's unattractive.
but it's hardly like she's in anyway attractive either!
and believe me, i've tried hard, on every level, to see her 'beauty'.

i know she doesn't have that conventional pretty look.
so i looked at her as edgy and grungy instead.
didn't work - in that case she just has greasy hair and resembles a boy.
i then of course looked to her personality, maybe she has a beautiful character?
no. she's just moody and cynical as far as i've seen, calling acting 'professional lying'.

reasons are therefore obvious as to why i thought kristen stewart was a strange choice for the front of this month's elle.

natalie portman, kylie minogue, kate winslet.
those are the kind of queens i want to see on the cover and then read about.
not some moody teenager from LA.

although this might just be because i don't like twilight.

despite all this, i will naturally look forward to july's issue popping through my letterbox in the next couple of days.

i can't believe i've just spent this whole post ranting,
what has come over me?!

i promise my next post will be sunnier :)

i love their originality!

identity

my heart skipped a beat when i checked out the amazing new designer sales on cocosa.com
i love all the hippy style we can expect for this summer
and you just HAVE to check out these beautiful boho treats:

Cocosa Creative 468x60

when i began making this dress, i loathed it!
and even when i'd finished it, i still didn't like it much.

but then i put my sister in the dress and took some photographs for my portfolio and these were the result - now i pretty much love it!
as my grandpa always said, "this girl would make a binbag look good!"

it's purely an artistic piece on the theme of identity so i perhaps won't be planning on wearing it!
it's just taught me to always use molly as my model if i want to cheat and make my clothes look good.
